What is Modus V?
Modus V is a private, on-premise AI appliance that analyzes an entire legal case file on a single air-gapped device, with no cloud and no internet connection. It reads every document in the case, from filings and transcripts to body-camera footage and forensic reports, then returns a cited, navigable analysis: a timeline, an entity network, and a charge-by-element matrix that marks each element proven, disputed, or missing. Imperium builds it for law firms, prosecutors, and government investigators. Every byte of case data stays inside your building.

Imperium in the press
Coverage of Imperium and our founding team.
Built by operators.
Imperium is built by people who have run hard programs. Our founder led a $330M F-15 international upgrade program, authored a winning $3M state grant, and as a CFO cleared a four-year audit backlog to current in eleven months. We bring that operating discipline to one idea: the most capable AI for sensitive case work should run entirely on your own hardware, behind your own walls, not in someone else's cloud.
More about ImperiumFrequently asked questions
What is Modus V?
Modus V is a private, on-premise AI appliance that analyzes entire legal case files on a single air-gapped device. It reads every document in a case and gives back a cited, navigable analysis: a timeline, an entity network, and a charge-by-element matrix. No case data leaves your building.
Who is it for?
It's for law firms, prosecutors, attorneys general, and government investigators who work large, sensitive case files and can't put evidence in the cloud. We offer it by invitation, to a limited number of firms and offices at a time.
How is it different from cloud legal AI?
Cloud legal-AI tools send your documents to a vendor's servers. Modus V runs on a device you own, with no internet connection required. Your case data is never uploaded and never used to train outside models. Sovereignty and chain of custody are built into the hardware, not promised in a policy.
Does case data ever leave the device?
No. Every bit of analysis runs on the appliance. It's air-gapped by default and sends nothing to the cloud, to Imperium, or to any third party. Each analyst action is written to a tamper-evident audit ledger, so chain of custody holds up.
How do I get it, and what does it cost?
Modus V is a purchased appliance with a software license, not a per-seat cloud subscription. It's available by invitation, and pricing depends on configuration and scope. Request early access and we'll set up a private walkthrough and talk through fit and cost.
What is Imperium App LLC?
Imperium App LLC is the St. Louis company behind Modus V. We build private, on-premise AI for law and government, run by people who have managed large, high-accountability programs.
What can Modus V read?
Modus V ingests the whole case file: filings and pleadings, deposition and interview transcripts, body-camera and surveillance video, forensic and lab reports, and the rest of the record. It indexes every document and makes the full file searchable and cross-referenced.
What does the analysis include?
For each case, Modus V builds a timeline of events, an entity network of the people and organizations involved, and a charge-by-element matrix that maps the evidence to each element and marks it proven, disputed, or missing. Every claim links back to the source document.
Is Modus V CJIS compliant?
Modus V is built to support CJIS-aligned handling of criminal-justice information: it runs on-premise and air-gapped, with access controls and a tamper-evident audit trail. Imperium does not claim CJIS certification. The appliance is designed to support your agency's own CJIS Security Policy obligations.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. Modus V runs fully offline on the appliance in your office. It does not call out to the cloud or any external service, so it works in a fully air-gapped environment and nothing about your case touches the internet.
